Handset maker Sony Ericsson has launched its two new smartphones — Xperia Arc and Xperia Play — priced at Rs 32,000 and Rs 35,000, respectively in the Indian market.
Xperia Play is Sony's first PlayStation-certified smartphone. Xperia Play is powered by the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbrad OS and Timescape User Interface. The smartphone features 4-inch LCD touch screen display with 854 x 480 pixels screen resolution, 5 MP Camera, Touch Sensitive Gaming Controls, and PSP Like Gaming Buttons. It has 720P video playback and recording, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB port and 1500 mAh battery.
Sony Erricson’s Xperia range sold more than nine million handsets globally in 2010.
Sony Erricson’s other offering Xperia Arc is a cool phone with sleek and ergonomic design. The smartphone has a 4.2 inch screen with a resolution of 480 x 852 megapixels which gives a colorful look. It weighs 117 grams with a size of 125mm x 63mm x 8.7mm. Its screen is of TFT LCD screen and is resistant to any type of scratches. Sporting a 1 GHz Qualcomm CPU a 3.5 mm audio jack, in addition to HDMI, USB, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support. The device also supports A-GPS and DLNA as well as memory card with capacity up to 32 GB. Xperia Play, which allows users to play PlayStation Suite games on the handset, is equipped with four-inch screen and a 5.1MP camera.
Xperia Arc is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, giving users access to over 150,000 applications via the Android marketplace. The Xperia Arc also offers Google mobile services, messaging and social network integration.
