In an attempt to fulfill public’s rapidly growing appetite for speedier connections, Verizon Wireles said it will launch its super high-speed 4G LTE network in 21 more markets on June 16.

Launched in December, Verizon claims that its LTE network is ten times faster than its 3G network. It says it can reach speeds of 5-12 Mbps downstream and 2-5 Mbps upstream.

The citieis which have reeceived Verizon's faster data coverage are: Spokane, Washington; Fresno, Sacramento, and San Francisco Bay, California; Boise, Idaho; Salt Lake City, Utah; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Flint, Great Rapids, Lansing, and more of metro Detroit, Michigan; Madison, Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and Wisconson Dells in Wisconson; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Springfield, Ohio; Erie, Pennsylvania; Hartford, Connecticut; Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina; State College, Pennsylvania.

Overall, the LTE network by the company will have 76 markets in its reach by June 16 and it will roll out the LTE network to its entire 3G market by the end of 2013.

Sprint, which uses Clearwire Corp.'s (CLWR) network as its 4G service, has coverage in 77 markets.

With such rapid expansion of market coverage, do we expect a flurry of 4G handsets being sold in the marketplace?
