ThinkGeek unveils the Joystick-It arcade stick for iPhone

By: Aseem Gaurav on June 17, 2011

After tasting success with its Joystick-It arcade stick for iPad, ThinkGeek has designed and adapted the same for the iPhone, iPod touch and similar gadgets.

Joystick-It is a real physical joystick which gives increased precision for touchscreen based games. You can even use two of them for dual control gaming!

The device is made up of milled-aluminium and comes with a sucker-pad which safely attaches to your iPhone’s screen. The bottom of the stick has a suction cup and soft foam so it won’t damage or stain the screen of the mobile viewer. Further it can be easily removed or placed on a different part of the screen for a different game.

The Joystick-It works with any device which features a capacitive touchscreen. Besides iPhone, it is also compatible with Android smartphones. You can use the device with any game that features a virtual on-screen control pad, but it won’t work with games that use swiping, swipe-style joypads, joypads with variable on-screen locations, or complex finger based gestures. So it will not prove worthy in games like Fruit Ninja or Angry Birds, but it will work with games like Pocket Legends or PacMan.

This retro play joystick will cost you $17.99 (only around £11 British) through ThinkGeek.
