Those who were waiting for get their hands on iPad 2 will now don’t have to wait for more than 1-3 day because of decrease in shipping time.
The supplies of the popular tablet have been under constraint in the last 4 months because of closing down of Apple’s main iPad manufacturer Foxconn Chengdu which cost the company 500,000 units. As of now the demand for the slate is far higher than supplies at all locations.
Two months back, Apple took major steps to improve supply, by adding more manufacturers, which are becoming more evident today with shipments improving quite handsomely.
At the time of its release, the popular tablet’s shipment time was four weeks from the time of purchase. It was nearly a month before you could get your favourite gadget. Consumers weren’t happy either, but the company was not able to cope up with the demand.
Apple sold 7.33 million units in the first quarter and 4.69 million in the second and expects to ship 12-14 million iPad 2s in the third quarter through major production ramp up.
