Apple’s App Store is moving towards a milestone that is hard to beat and is marvelous by all measures. The store is about to hit 25 billion downloads and to celebrate this occasion, the Cupertino-California based company is giving away $10,000 iTunes gift card to the lucky winner who’ll hit it at the right moment.
Apple unveiled the store in July 2008 and just within a two and a half years span, more than 10 billion applications have been downloaded by the users, but now it has reached this mark within much less time. The company has launched a worldwide promotional page to celebrate the event which said:
“As of today, nearly 25 billion apps have been downloaded worldwide. Which is almost as amazing as the apps themselves. So we want to say thanks. Download the 25 billionth app, and you could win a US$10,000 App Store Gift Card.* Just visit the App Store and download your best app yet.”
The person who’ll submit an alternate entry form immediately after the 24,999,999,999th app download will be announced the winner. This is not the first time that the company is going with such a promotional event as even in 2009 it awarded a person who downloaded the one billionth app.
To become eligible there is even no need to download anything, as you can fill out an entry form, or even enter by phone. There are a maximum of 25 entries per person, per iTunes account or email address. Check out the Official Rules for full details.
