The evolution of cell phone [Infographic]

Mobile phones are one of the great gifts to the mankind. They can immediately connect you with the other person through voice and internet, are portable, and keep you engaged through its loads of features that are now ubiquitous in every other smartphone. However, in yesteryears, owning a mobile phone was considered to be toy of rich and affluent. Significant changes in mobile technology and rapid advancement in size of the device has made it easy for a vast ocean of people to afford it. 
At the time of its inception, the mobile phones were long and heavy, and it was a burden to carry them from one place to another. But subsequent improvement in technology transformed the huge brick-like mobile phones of 1983 to sleek and stylish smartphones that we carry now. 
In 1983, the first cell phone, the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X, is released. It took almost a decade for DynaTAC 8000X, to hit stores. The device retailed for $3,995. However, subsequent models gave more emphasis on portability as the Motorola released the first pocket size cell phone in 1989 for $2,995. Despite all such advancements, it was in 1994, that the first smartphone was released. It was IBM Simon Personal Communicator and it retailed for $1,100 bucks without a contract. But from the period afterwards things started to improve with improved technology and device quality. In this inforgraphic we take a look at how the device has evolved from 1983 and 2013.
