The release of iPad Mini 2 is looming and analysts expect that its launch will boost low cost tablets in the market.
The second-generation iPad Mini will force tablet vendors to continue to drop their prices, according to J.P. Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz.
Moskowitz says the rest of the industry will be competing on price since they have not been able to come with a tablet as compelling as the iPad. He predicts further decreases in price, especially following the launch of the second generation of iPad Mini.
He expects the average selling prices to continue to drop by double digits this year and next. He says Apple will continue to lead the tablet market, but Samsung will gain more traction by expanding its line-up. He expects Samsung to take a bite on Apple's sales.
Moskowitz says other tablet manufacturers, namely Google and its more affordable Nexus 7 tablet can probably expect to sell more units than expected through 2013.
