Do you often find yourself in the habit of dropping your iPhone accidentally? You might be having a case on your iPhone but it may not be able prevent the glass enough. Rhino Shiled, a screen protector, solve this problem by offering you a shield made of layers which is coated with a scratch resistant nanometer and stick-free oleophobic technology.
Designed by the team Evolutive Labs, Rhino Shield absorbs five times more energy than the ever popular Gorilla Glass 2. The good part is even with all of the impact resistant layers, the screen protector still provides great transparency.
In total, the shield is comprises of six layers, at 0.01 inches thick, which is roughly three times the width of a standard sheet of paper. The two innermost layers, called "impact dumping" and "dispersion" layers, work with the outer layers to absorb shocks when a phone or tablet is dropped.
Eric Wang, founder of Evolutive Labs and designer of Rhino Shield, is a Ph.D. candidate in material science and engineering at the University of Cambridge.
Since it is a kickstarter project, Wang says distribution can begin as early as April. Prices will range between £12 and £20 (or $18 and $30.)
