Comedy video site Funny or Die has come up with a satirical Steve Jobs biopic starring Justin Long. The 78-minute mini-movie, called iSteve, is now available for streaming in non-Apple-friendly-Flash on Funny or Die’s website. Till now, iSteve is the only movie that has come very close to being a full-fledged feature.

While Justin Long (Dodgeball, Jeepers Creepers) plays the title role, Jorge Garcia (Lost) is in the role of Steve Wozniak, James Urbaniak plays Bill Gates and Michaela Watkins fills the role of Melinda Gates. Ryan Perez directs.

According to developer, the objective was to be the first Jobs movie to debut, which means that the timeline was short and the budget tight. Perez wrote the movie in just over five days, using only Steve Jobs’ Wikipedia pages and various interviews as source material. He also joked that he could not afford the paperback version of [Walter Isaacson’s] book since it is not in their budget. Filming was done over another five days, and the editing schedule was also compressed. In all, the production team completed the movie in just about eight weeks.

Besides some factual errors in the film, it seems pretty okay on the entertainment factor - much like the Apple iPod Hi-Fi.

While "iSteve" is the first film to take on the Apple cofounder's life story since his death in October 2011, an independent biopic featuring Ashton Kutcher, titled "Jobs," has yet to see a theatrical release.

In an interview, Ryan Perez, iSteve's writer and director, said: "It's very silly. But it looks at his whole life. We might not be the best, but we will be the first." According to Perez, "I think my hope would be that people are interested in following the story."

On the upside, it's as free as iTunes.
