Samsung Series 9 premium ultrabook now available for $1,399

It’s time to boot up the highest-definition Samsung Ultrabook you have ever seen. The Korean company has just updated its 13.3-inch Series 9 Ultrabook with a full 1080p HD display. The ultrabook is now available for $1,399 and is now available for purchase.

Samsung’s Ultrabooks tend to be super slim yet feel very sturdy in-hand. The ultrabook weighs just 2.5 pounds and measures 0.5 inches thin. It has an aluminum “single shell body” that has been sand-blasted for full fingerprint resistance, so you know it’s a high-quality build inside and out.

To fit all the components into its svelte chasis, Samsung had to customize key parts like its keyboard, battery, cable, and fans, which is likely another reason for the Series 9 Ultrabooks’ high price tags when compared to other Windows 8 Ultrabooks.

The 13.3-inch Ultrabook is powered by an Intel Core i7 processor ticking at 2GHz, 4GB of RAM memory and 128GB of SSD storage. It has a 1,920 x 1,080-pixel screen, an Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics chip and a 1.3-megapixel webcam.

The Series 9 is powered by Windows 8 and starts at $1,399.99 — quite a surprise given the originally intended price was $1,899.

Such a price point puts the ultrabook in direct competition with Apple's 13-inch MacBook Air, which offers double the storage but a slower processor and a lower screen resolution for the same price.
