18-Year-Old Bill Gates' resume shows a $15,000 salary in 1974

Bill Gates currently ranks second on the Forbes 2013 rich list, with $67 billion in the bank. One peek at his university CV, however, and you would think otherwise.

Over 40 years ago, Bill Gates, the man known for founding the software giant Microsoft, was making just $15,000. The Living Computer Museum showed off their collection of Microsoft paraphernalia, including co-founders Bill Gates and Paul Allens' resumes from 1974.

The resumé of 18-year-old Gates lists a baseline salary requirement of just $15,000 (£10,000). Gates's objectives are listed as "systems analyst or systems programmer."

Interestingly, Paul Allen, Gates’ partner who helped lay the foundation of the Redmond-based Windows maker, was 21 and had expected the same salary as Gates.

He and Paul Allen were working at US firm Honeywell in 1974 when the CV was produced and together would go on to create the Microsoft we know today.

Do you wonder what their current salary could be in the current day based on inflation? The $15,000 figure in 1974 will be equal to about $68,880 today.
