Amazon offers 99-cent Lady Gaga album again, promises no problems

Amazon is once again offering 99-cent offer for Lady Gaga’s latest album, “Born This Way.”

The online retailer put the digital MP3 version of Lady Gaga's new album up for sale on Monday for a heavily discounted 99 cents, but to their surprise the offering became so popular that it stalled the company’s servers. But this time Amazon promises that they are well prepared.

“Clearly customers are really excited for Lady Gaga’s new album – we saw extraordinary response to Monday’s promotion – far above what we expected – she definitely melted some servers. So we're doing it again, and this time we're ready,” said said Craig Pape, director of Music for Amazon.

Experts believe the promotional offer will boost the opening-week sales of ‘Born This Way’ well above 850,000 or possibly more than a million, much higher than its early estimates of about 750,000 copies.

The company said those who couldn’t download their purchase on Monday, Amazon will get them covered. Also those who saved the album to the Amazon Cloud Drive should be able to play it now.

Amazon’s promotional deal is seen by many as a tool to promote its Cloud Drive service, which allows customers to store their music on Amazon’s servers and stream it over the Internet.  Amazon introduced its Cloud Drive service in March.
