Firefox Beta for Android brings on private browsing

By: Aseem Gaurav on May 21, 2011

The latest Firefox 5 beta for Android gives users the right to browse privately.

Mozilla has released the updated version with a Do Not Track feature that will make Firefox turn oblivion of your browsing behaviour. This also makes it the first mobile browser for Android which offers this privacy feature.

Enabling the Do Not Track feature on your Android device is quite simple as one needs to go to the browser preferences and slide the 'Tell sites not to track me' button.

“The basic idea is to provide users with the same browser experience as the desktop version of the web browser. When you load a page or advertisement, it will send a signal that will tell the entire web that you do not want to be tracked,” said Sid Stamm, security and privacy official at Mozilla.

Mozilla’s move to make mobile browsing more secure than before for its users, is seen by many as a major step forward by developers given that major brands like Apple and Google had been criticized for location tracking.
