HTC Flyer goes on sale across Europe; starts at 499 Euros

The Taiwanese mobile device maker’s first tablet, the HTC Flyer, went on sale in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Romania on May 13. The tablet costs $710 (€499) for the Wi-Fi/16GB model and the WiFi and 3G version with 32 GB of storage is available for for $923 (€649).



The Flyer comes with a compact 7-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 024 x 600 pixels. It runs Android 2.4 Gingerbread and the processing is provided by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor. Both the versions of the tablet features the HTC Scribe, the technology which allows users to take notes, sign contracts, draw pictures, or write on a web page or photo.



Other key features of 415 g device include a 5 MP camera, 1GB RAM, microSD card support, Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS. The Flyer also comes with HTC Sense user interface which has been well received in smartphones.

The Flyer is capable of recording audio and synchronising it with notes taken on the device, thanks to HTC's Scribe technology. Adobe Flash support, multi-window browsing with pinch to zoom, and a quick look-up that lets users tap into Wikipedia, Youtube and other web resources, are other significant features of the tablet.



It is also the first tablet to premiere HTC Watch, HTC’s new video download service, offering more than 600 premium movies and TV shows from major studios.
