Gemini, one of the pioneers of mobile DJing in the 1970s, has unveiled FirstMix – a simple, affordable DJ hardware controller, targeted at aspiring DJs.

The FirstMix will attach to a laptop or desktop computer through USB, letting you DJ with your iTunes or any other music library due to its easy navigation. The device comes with a software that allows you to preview, adjust treble and bass and even scratch, bend or add effects to tracks.

Though the device comes with matching Mac and PC compatible software in the form of Cross LE DJ from MixVibes, it is also compatible with other DJ software such as Traktor, Virtual DJ and Algoriddim’s DJay.

The unit supports audio filetypes like MP3, AAC, M4A, AIFF, WAV as well as FLAC and Ogg files.

Features of the unit include: two touch-sensitive job wheels (for scratching), a mix switch, beat-matching buttons, previewing buttons and treble and bass controls. You can record your work and share it on Facebook or SoundCloud.

FirstMix also has a Sync feature that allows the DJs to merge two separate tracks and beat match the tempos for a professional mix. Moreover, you can spice up tracks with effects and reverse, as well as adjustable bass and treble.

Priced at $99.95, the FirstMix is available at retailers like Pro Sound Stage and Lighting, Musician’s Friend.

If you want to spin tracks like a pro, then it all comes down to getting the right equipment. So what you are thinking, go and groove that party.
