Samsung Electronics Co., the world's second-largest mobile phone maker, has sold over 3 million of its latest Galaxy SII Android smartphone in just 55 days, making it one of the best selling smartphones in the android marketplace.
Last year the Samsung Galaxy S took 85 days to reach this mark.
Statistic means that Samsung has been selling one Android smartphone every 1.5 seconds during the first 55 days.
The Galaxy SII is being sought after as it runs on Android 2.3, features a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and is priced at $708. Its other features include: a 4.3-inch WVGA Super AMOLED plus screen, 1GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, an eight-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording, which represent the latest in smartphone technologies.
The smartphone also features the new Wi-Fi Direct function, which allows the phone to act as a wireless router, connecting to other Wi-Fi devices.
The Galaxy S II is still awaiting the US and Canada launch.
Samsung predicts that the device will surpass the 10 million mark just like the Samsung Galaxy. The smartphone is quite popular that it’s perhaps replacing the iPhone 4 as the benchmark device that others get compared too.
