Looking at the growing computer tablet market in India, Electronic consumer device maker Sony has stepped on the gas to launch its two Android tablets for the Indian market, Tablet S and Tablet P. Though the Tablet S has been available for consumers in India for some time now, it has now become officially available.

Both the tablets run on Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread operating system from Google, and come with 1GB of RAM and 5-megapixel cameras.

The first device Sony S is a rectangular slab with 9.4 inch LCD touchscreen display offering 1280x800 pixels resolution. The tablet S is available in two variants - 16 GB Wi-Fi only model and 16 GB 3G + Wi-Fi model. The first version costs Rs 29,990 and the later is priced at Rs 33,990 and will be available by mid January 2012. It has a 5000mAh Li-ion battery that can last up to 8 hours. The Tablet has a 1GHz Cortex- A9 dual-core processor and has 1GB of RAM. Further, it comes with 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded an additional 32GB with a SD card. The dimensions of the device are 241.2mm x 174.3mm x 10.1-20.6mm and as compared to iPad 2’s weight of 601 grams, the tablet S weighs 598 grams.

In terms of design, Tablet S looks different from other tablets due to its uniquely asymmetric design that shifts the center of balance to one side. It has wedge-shape, which gives you the feeling of paper that’s been folded over. Such a curve at the bottom of the tablet means that is not difficult to hold and the thick part melting into a thin panel on the other side makes it easier to type when placed on the ground. You can find the power key with the volume rocker on the right side while the 3.5 mm port, the USB port and the SD car is on the left side of the tablet.

The tablet has Wi-Fi connectivity, infra-red remote control which is capable of controlling TV, Blu-ray Disc™ player, HiFi system, and even the set-top box. It also comes with DLNA that allows you to share the videos, photos and music clips to home entertainment devices. It even has an amazing TruBlack™ panel which displays vibrant colors and good image quality. There's a 5-megapixel camera on the tablet's back and a 0.3-megapixel camera for video up front. The tablet’s music player music player not only has a great cover art view, it analyzes your music with a technology called "SensMe" to create Pandora/Genius-style automatic playlists of music that sounds good together.

On the other hand, the Tablet P has an unusual clamshell design (folding design) for enhanced handling and easy use. Besides portability, the design offers better grip to readers and movie viewers. It has dual 5.5 inch, 1,024x480-pixel touchscreen, and the device is powered by a 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 mobile processor. It comes with 4GB of internal memory that can be expanded an additional 32GB with a microSD card. The Tablet P runs on the Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS. The dimensions of the device are 180mm x 158mm x 14mm when opened and 180mm x 79mm x 28mm when closed and it weighs just 372 grams. It also supports a microSD card up to 32GB. Costing Rs 36,990, the tablet will be available in the Indian market by mid January 2012.

The users can play original PlayStation titles on the Tablets since both the tablets are first series of PlayStation certified Tablets. Some of the games that are preinstalled are: Crash Bandicoot and Pinball Heroes.

Further, these tablets come with universal remote feature that operates a host of gadgets and appliances with the help of built-in infra red sensor.
