Longtime users show no 'Facebook fatigue': Survey

The more you use it, the more you love it. Using Facebook just doesn't get boring for most of us. This was revealed in the Pew Research Center report, based on a U.S. phone survey, logs and data from November 2010, which surveyed people who have been using the popular social media site since it was founded in 2004.

The survey showed that people just love more messages, more "likes" and more comments. Yes, even more "pokes." This also explains the social networking site's possible long-term popularity as it heads for a $5 billion initial public offering.

The Pew research suggests that the worries of people developing "Facebook fatigue" may be unfounded.

"The more Facebook friends users have, the more involved they will be with the social networking site. They'll perform every activity like friending, liking, private messages, commenting, posting, photo tagging, joining groups and poking," Pew said regarding the survey by its Internet & American Life project.

On an average Facebook users can grow their circle of friends to 156,569 people through a network of friends of friends.

Setting eye on all two billion Internet users, Facebook has so far captured 845 million of them. In its SEC filing for an initial public offering, Facebook said, "The size of our user base and our users' level of engagement are critical to our success. We aim to connect all of them."
