Chirp iPhone app lets you share content via sound

A new cool iPhone application called Chirp is out in the App Store that allows people to share digital content – web pages, pictures or video – by playing short tunes to each other. Surely, an innovative and quick way to get social using the power of sound.

In order to share something, you first need to ensure that the other person has the Chirp app installed on his/her iPhone. Now with the click of just a button, you can easily send or receive images from your camera or a video that you just recorded, with everyone in the room. It’s that simple!

The Chirp app notifies the receiver about what you have shared by turning the information into a sequence of 20 musical notes, which is decoded by other person’s Chirp-equipped device. The device then displays your information: say image or a video.

According to Patrick Bergel, chief executive of Chirp creator Animal Systems, the use of sound in sharing something provides much more flexibility and is less expensive as compared to other technologies in use.
