Micro-blogging network Twitter has rolled out a host of new minor features in the updated version of both its iOS and Android applications.
The updated version 4.3 has added a new feature called “expanded tweets” which lets users to view content within a tweet, like video or image, from within the user’s update.
The next is "push notifications" for certain tweets from certain accounts – especially helpful to those who are following a certain person as and when they tweet or retweet. It allows you to keep on top of the news that’s relevant to you. Users can also choose to receive “ambient notifications” which displays brief non-interruptable notifications in the status bar.
Further, the users can now experience events, as the micro-blogging site now provides a dedicated page for hash tags (check out: twitter.com/hashtag/nascar). Thus you can experience any live event, whether you’re watching from home or from the stands.
Another significant improvement comes in form of autocomplete functionality, that allows you to see more suggestions when you are searching for a person.
Experts see the update serving two purposes: first is “delivering consistent Twitter experience” across platforms and second is wooing advertisers who wish to display content within tweets.
