Apple releases iOS 6 for iPhone and iPad

By: Aseem Gaurav on Spetember 19, 2012

Apple has started rolling out iOS 6 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The update adds "over 200 new features," to iOS 5, which was released last October. The most important among them is the new maps application that uses Apple's own data, Facebook integration, Siri coming to iPad, new App Store, Photo Streams, Panorama, and much more.

However, the new update would not come with features like the built-in YouTube application. Users can download a new version of YouTube app from Google in the App Store.

As per official details, the upgrade would be available only to newer devices which include:

iPhones

iPhone 3GS
iPhone 4
iPhone 4S

iPods

iPod Touch (4th generation)
iPod Touch (5th generation)

iPads

iPad 2
iPad (3rd generation)

Here’s how to install the update:

1. Update iTunes. For this launch iTunes.
2. Now go to settings > General > Software Update
3. As soon as iOS 6 is available, you'll see instructions there to download and install it.

Overall, the iOS 6 is a solid operating system that has been built keeping in mind all sorts of details.
