Apple has partnered with the Hearst Corporation to give magazine readers a reason to go digital for their magazine needs: early access.
The Cupertino-based Apple has dubbed this section as “Read Them Here First," which 22 of Hearst’s magazines exclusively to the iPad before any other digital or retail channels. The magazines include Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Elle, Popular Mechanics, Seventeen, and much more.
The idea behind the introduction is of Apple. Also, the number of days in which iTunes will receive a magazine in advance will differ based on the title.
The deal seems to be a win-win situation for the both the companies. While for Apple it means a competitive advantage over rivals like Amazon, along with competitive edge, for Hearst it means success with Newsstand.
Also, Hearst is the first publisher to make this sort of deal with Apple and it won’t be surprising if in future more publications will go for deals like this one.
Apple has posted the full list of available Hearst titles under a new “Read Them Here First” section in Newsstand.
