BlackBerry launches Z10 in India, at a higher price band of Rs 43,490

BlackBerry has officially launched its latest smartphone Z10 in the Indian market for a price tag of Rs 43,490. The phone will be available in the retail market one week after the announcement.


It is a 4.2” LCD touchscreen phone that offers resolution of 1280x768 pixels (offering 356 pixels per inch pixel density and the up to 4 points of multi-touch). The phone is powered by a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 mobile processor, and has 2GB RAM. It comes with 16GB onboard memory which can be expanded up to 64GB using a microSD card.

The Z10 has an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP HD camera in front. Its connectivity options include Wi-Fi, 2G, 3G, 4G, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0 and NFC. The Z10 has a 1,800mAh battery.

The handset is available in black and while colours and competes against the likes of Nokia Lumia 920, Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5.

The Canada-based BlackBerry has high hopes from Z10 smartphone since for two years the company has been on rocks and felt left behind market leaders Apple and Samsung. What could work for BlackBerry with this new handset is the company’s popularity among the working professionals and a cool, feature-rich smartphone that promises to give strong competition to other market players.
