HCL launches three new budget ICS tablets, starting at Rs. 5999

HCL Infosystems has launched three tablets – V1, Y3 and U2 – under its ME series at affordable prices. These tablets are seven-inch devices aimed at youth segment.


Tapping into the budget segment of the computer tablet market, HCL Infosystems has launched three tablets – V1, Y3 and U2 – under its ME series.

First in the series is HCL ME U2 which is powered by Cortex A9 processor. The tablet has a 7-inch multi-capacitive touchscreen and offers resolution of 800x480 pixels. It comes with an internal memory of 4GB, which can be expanded up to 32GB. It has 1GB RAM. It comes engineered with a 3000 mAh battery. It has a 0.3 megapixel front camera and lets you enjoy full HD video playback at 1080p. The tablet lets users access Google Play and costs just Rs 5,990.

Second in the series is again a 7-inch display tablet called ME V1. It is powered by Cortex A8 processor clocked at 1GHz. The tablet offers a 2 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3 megapixel front camera. It comes with 4GB internal memory which is expandable up to 32GB and offers full HD video playback at 1080p and a 3200 mAh battery. The tablet does not let users access Google Play but instead allows them to download apps from the ME App store.

ME Y3 also runs Android 4 but has a better display than V1 and U2. With a screen size of 7 inch, the tablet offers a resolution of 1024x600 pixels. It also features a dual-SIM and had a built in FM transmitter. For Rs 11,999, it offers 3.2 megapixel back camera and a 0.3 megapixel front camera. It also has 3100mAh battery. Other features include mini USB, mini HDMI, 1GB DDR3 RAM, 4GB internal flash memory (expandable up to 32GB via microSD card), and Bluetooth v4.0. It also lets users access the ME App store.

These tablet lets users access pre-loaded apps like Big-Flix, Cleartrip, LinkedIn, NimBuzz, Twitter and Facebook. The HCL ME tablets will be supported by an integrated back up service - HCL Touch, a 24X7 one touch service facility. As of now the tablets are available in select cities and will be available across the country by February 2013 onwards.
