Ahead of the Mobile World Congress that begins later this month, LG Electronics has announced new phones in its Optimus L Series II line-up. Looking to continue momentum which the company registered with Optimus L Series, it is now planning to launch three new smartphones under this series: the dual-SIM variant L7II, the L3II and the L5II.
The Optimus L Series II follows the same design philosophy just like the previous phones in the L series, but with new design elements, including laser-cut contours, a radiant rear design and LED lighting on the home button. The company had earlier sold over 10 million Optimus L Series phones in the first 10 months of its launch.
The phones in this series will be using high-resolution IPS displays and will have higher capacity batteries. There will also be dual SIM versions of the Optimus L Series II smartphones.
The first in the new line-up is L7II. The Optimums L7II has 4.3-inch touch screen and comes with a 1GHz Dual-Core processor. The camera offers 4GB space and 768 MB RAM and a space for micro-SD slot. It comes with a 8.0 megapixel camera with LED Flash for the rear one and the front camera is VGA. The device runs on Android 4.1 aka Jelly Bean and will have a bigger 2,460mAh battery.
The L5 II will have a 4-inch WVGA display and a 1,700mAh battery, while the lowest-tiered phone, the L3 II, will have a 3.2-inch QVGA IPS display and a 1,540mAh battery.
The Optimus L Series II will offer features like QuickMemo, Quick Button and Safety Care. QuickMemo lets users capture and share handwritten ideas with others using just a fingertip. Quick Button enables customers to personalize a hotkey to launch any app such as the camera, browser, music player or even QuickMemo. In addition, Safety Care offers options such as Emergency Call Forwarding, Phone Non-Usage Notice and My Location Notice – which can be programmed to contact a loved one in case of an emergency.
It is still not clear when LG will launch the handsets in the United States.
