ASUS, Taiwan's Asus, best known as the world's fifth-largest manufacturer of PCs, has launched its new 7-inch tablet, called MeMO Pad. The tablet has been priced at Rs 9999.

The tablet runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system and has a 7-inch Twisted Nematic (TN) display with a resolution of 1024x600 (169 PPI), 10 finger multi- touch function and wide view technology.

The tablet is powered by a 1GHz VIA WM8950 CPU and a Mali-400 GPU, and has 1GB RAM. It has 8 GB of internal storage and a Micro-SD slot that supports up to 32GB extra storage.

The company said MeMO stands for "My Mobile. My Moment" and reflects the position of ASUS MeMO Pad as a tablet for people on-the-go. The table weighs just 358gms and measures 196.2 x 119.2 x 11.2mm, which means it can easily fit in the palms of your hand. The tablet’s front facing HD camera can capture HD videos (720p) with up to 30 frames per second providing better images and enhanced video calls. The tablet has up to7 hours of battery life.

The MeMO Pad is slightly heavier than the Nexus 7 and will be available in colours like white, titanium grey and pink. ASUS says the tablet includes a non-slip, diamond-patterned finish on the back which makes it easy to hold.

ASUS will pre-load a number of its own applications on the MeMO Pad including SuperNote Lite and the BuddyBuzz social network aggregator.
