It's been a year now since Google Play came into being and the Internet giant is celebrating this occasion by offering gift cards and discounts on music, movies, books, games, and more.
"It was just a year ago today that we launched this amazing shop on the interwebs to offer the best in digital content," the company wrote on its Google Play Web site. "Since the best parties are the ones that send you home with a present, today we celebrate our birthday with a festive goodie bag full of gifts."
Among the offers include a 10 per cent discount with Hotels.com, a $15 gift card from the Google+ Sign-In partner Fancy, 99-cent movie rentals, free song tracks from The Velvet Underground and LCD Soundsystem, and more.
A year ago, Google re-launched its Android market under the brand name Google Play. At the time of its creation the company hoped that it would serve as a comprehensive source for movies, music, and e-books and decided to fold Google Music and Google eBookstore into one store. So far it has been an incredible first year for Google Play which hit 25 billion downloads mark in September. The company hopes to maintain the momentum in the years to come.
