Evernote, an online notetaking service, said it had discovered and blocked "suspicious activity" on its network. It said, in this process it was resetting the passwords of its 50 million users.

The company said in a security notice that some user data had been accessed and that Evernote was requiring all users to reset their passwords. It said, however, no sensitive financial info was stolen, and no user content was affected.

California-based Evernote said an investigation revealed that those responsible for the breach were able to gain access to user information, which includes usernames, email addresses and encrypted passwords.

"While our password encryption measures are robust, we are taking additional steps to ensure that your personal data remains secure," it said.

The site will also be releasing updates to several of their apps to help ease this password change process.

Evernote is the latest company to suffer attacks on its security system. Earlier, technology companies including Facebook, Apple, Microsoft and Twitter have been witness to cyberattacks.
