Here’s how to install Facebook Home on your unsupported Android phone

By: iPadfanzz Editor on April 14, 2013

Facebook Home, a clever product that is more than an app but less than a full-fledged OS  - something which replaces the homescreen of your Android phone with your Facebook News Feed and overhauls your messaging setup – is now available in the Google Play store.

However, you can only install it if you have the right smartphone:  HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Note II, Samsung Galaxy S IV or HTC One. At the same time, the HTC First, out from AT&T, will come with it preinstalled. Facebook has also said that other phones with the last couple of Android versions may also run it.

Facebook Home helps you keep track of what your friends are up to without ever having to launch an app. The new Android skin also integrated the SMS and Facebook Messenger facility. Once launched, users will be able to see their Facebook News Feed which is now called Cover Feed, where updates are now converted into full-screen banners. If someone messages you while you’re doing something else, their Chat Head (a floating, circular icon containing their Facebook picture) will appear, and tapping it lets you see and respond to the message, then quickly go back to whatever you were doing. In short, the Home has been designed to make your phone all Facebook, all the time.

But if in case you are not having the latest version of Android then don’t worry as all you need is your current Android phone and about five minutes. The methodology was created by MoDaCo founder Paul O’Brien.

Go to your Android device’s settings and make sure it’s set to install applications from unknown sources (it’s in the “Security” section). Now uninstall your existing Facebook, Messenger and Home applications (necessary because the patched versions are re-signed), then install his patched versions of the Facebook Home app, as well as his patched Facebook and Facebook Messenger apps. (Click here to install them). Now sign in and in the Facebook application's 'Settings' menu the Facebook Home option will appear.

Most of the users have reported that the modified version works just fine. Please do send comments regarding the post or if you are facing any issues.
