Intel recently introduced the world to its powerful and efficient Haswell line of fourth-generation Core processors at Computex. Following the announcement, Acer announced at least 23 new models in its Aspire notebook and Ultrabook line, along with six new desktop PCs.

Laptops

Acer Aspire S7 (Intel Haswell processor, 8GB RAM)

Touted as the world's best Ultrabook with a touchscreen, the Aspire S7 comes with a fourth-generation Intel Core i5/i7 processor (Haswell). The ultrabook comes with improved battery life, an improved typing experience, battery life and screen picture quality over its predecessor. The Acer Aspire S7-392 Ultrabook will be available either with an Intel Core i5-4200U or a i7-4500U processor, 8GB memory, and either a 128- or 256GB SSD. Prices will range from $1400 to $1700.

While announcing the device, Acer president Jim Wong compared the Aspire's S7 updated touch screen display to Apple's Retina display. "To make sure no compromise on visual experience we have introduced support for WQHD display," Wong said. "We could call it a Retina display," he said, suggesting Acer have taken the Macbook as a direct influence for its Aspire S7 ultrabook. However, Apple's Retina display has 2,880x1,800 resolution, so it's not directly comparable.

"The touch screen display is more accurate for touch, with everything at 60fps guaranteed," he said. Working with Intel, Acer has finally equipped the Aspire S7 with wireless display (WiDi) technology for porting the display wirelessly to a bigger screen.
