Vitaminwater launches bus station ads that let you charge your phone

By: Aseem Gaurav on July 15, 2011

Coke's Vitaminwater has adopted a unique marketing strategy to boost its product range. Aiming to promote energy boosting properties of Vitaminwater, the company has installed a 5-volt battery-powered USB port across various bus shelters in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Boston.

The “You’re Up” campaign for Vitaminwater is designed for general awareness of the product. The ad hubs allow mobile phone users to charge their USB-compatible mobile, gaming device or MP3 player at the ad location.

But we must mention here that the concept of mobile charging stations for advertising purposes is not new as Samsung has been running charging stations in airports for years. It will be interesting to see how this promotional campaign delivers the results in numbers, but the idea is certainly innovative.
