Micromax’s latest addition to its smartphone lineup, Canvas HD, is selling like hotcakes. The company has recently announced that it has sold over 9,000 units in lest one day.
Micromax’s online partner Snapdeal.com said the second lot of Canvas HD was sold out within 15 minutes of sale announcement on February 14 midnight.
“canvas HD has exceeded our expectations. We were completely surprised to see all 500 units which we expected to sell in the entire day sold out within 15 minutes of launch. Our call volume shot through the roof with enquiries and we have replenished inventory levels to cater to more sales. This kind of pace of sales beats our previous records,” Tony Navin, vice president, Business Development, Snapdeal said.
“This is the first time our online sales partners have ever witnessed a digital queue in cyberspace to such an extent for any product,” said Shubhodip Pal, CMO Micromax.
Pal expects the sales of Canvas HD to pick up pace when the phone will come out in the market for physical sale and hopes the phone will established a strong presence in the phablet market in India.
The unique selling proposition of Canvas HD is its 5-inch display, which packs in a resolution of 1280×720 pixels and has 294 pixels per inch. This means that you get amazing picture quality which is rich in colours and feels life like. At a price of Rs 13,990, it is probably one of the best options available in the market.
Other major feature of Canvas HD is the quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz made by MediaTek. This means that you can easily zap between tasks and do things at much faster pace. The device also delivers a surprise with an 8 MP camera, which means you can view photos in amazing clarity. The megapixels packed in the camera are pretty decent and seems to be okay.
With such power-packed performance, one thing is for sure that the phone is going to cannibalize the sales of other smartphones in the same category and may be a good pie of Lumia category of smartphones.
